TAKE BACK
Take Back is a visual demonstration of the constant balance between humans and nature. The Midwest is often regarded as a cluster of states that can be easily passed by/over, but for anyone who truly stops to look and learn, a whole new world untouched by man awaits. Spanning several medium, my work strives to represent the true power of nature in this world of constant human expansion.
This collection of work has several styles to it, whether it be realistic, crisp photography or slightly abstract and surrealistic studio pieces, each piece is a visual representation of the overall bigger picture. Most of my work is based on realistic subject matter but, my mind tends to twist the images to a more inviting style. It becomes a more surrealistic, or even a more interesting photo composition. This process is due to my mind trying to portray the image differently, instead of making the eye focus on realistic details it instead tries to look deeper into the meaning of the art. I tend to use organic lines to help build organic shapes in my art, these lines and shapes help bring out the realistic qualities while still in the realm of surrealism.
This work is primarily due to the influences of my childhood and surroundings. Take Back is a direct answer to the common argument of deforestation. My art takes on a “Northern Missouri” feel to it, due to the background features and atmospheric presence of my art. Photography has been a part of my life since I was small; I take inspiration from my photos and use them to enhance my studio pieces.
